Cutting reinforced and filled polymers requires a cutter design that can withstand heavy loads without losing cutting quality. KAMADUR supplies cutters with clamped teeth that are engineered for strand pelletizers processing materials with filler levels up to 70%. These cutters are designed for long running times stable operation and clean strand separation.

Clamped TC inserts for demanding polymers

For abrasive and reinforced polymers we recommend cutters equipped with clamped tungsten carbide inserts. Each insert is placed into a milled slot and secured with screws which creates a stable cutting edge without internal stress. This design prevents cracking or chipping even when processing hard and mineral filled compounds.

Advantages over brazed teeth

Brazed tungsten carbide teeth contain internal tension which can lead to breakage during heavy duty operation. Clamped inserts avoid this issue because the carbide is not exposed to thermal stress during assembly. The inserts can be replaced individually which extends the lifetime of the cutter body and reduces maintenance cost.

Segment sizes and compatibility

For Maag, Rieter and Automatik strand pelletizers we supply cutter segments in widths of 68 and 106 millimeter. Custom production based on samples drawings or dimensions is available. Existing shafts can also be retrofitted with new clamped tooth segments.
